Overview:
The movement in Noclipped is designed to be dynamic and fast-paced. Many encounters in Noclipped with enemies and entities will have 2 options: fight or flight. Movement should feel good for both running away from danger, as well as engaging into combat.
The fast movement allows for the player to quickly run away from danger, and the parkour mechanics allow them to traverse difficult terrain and get a bigger advantage over their enemies (Eg: Climb a taller ledge and attack from above, or buy some time while the enemy is climbing up).
The fast movement also allows the player to dodge attacks and quickly move into and away from danger.
Inner workings:
Stamina
- The movement depends on stamina. Stamina is a stat that stops the player from infinitely running at fast speeds and repeating difficult parkour patterns without limits.
- The player doesn’t use stamina while walking or simply standing. In fact you re-gain stamina by slowing down.
- If you use up stamina and it reaches 0, then the player becomes exhausted and will be locked from doing stamina-enducing actions until the stamina recharges to 75% or higher.
- When the player does an action that takes away stamina, the stamina will not refill for about 3 seconds.
Mechanics
- Sprinting increases the speed of the player as well as allowing them to perform parkour maneuvers (vaulting and breaking through some doors [both require skills]). When the player reaches 0 stamina or they are exhausted they cannot sprint.
- The player does use up stamina while jumping, however if their stamina is at 0 or the player is exhausted, then they can still jump, but a bit lower than before (a fix from older versions of Noclipped).
- If the player reaches enough speed they can vault over objects that are up to waist high. For example - vaulting over a table in the middle of a corridor instead of going around it.
- If the player reaches a fast enough speed and collides with doors they can automatically open them, as long as they are not locked with a proper lock (if the door is locked via a chain the player needs to break through the door to open it, or to open the lock from the other side)
- The player can also grab onto ledges and climb them. This is useful when the player jumps over a large gap and cannot quite reach it, or if they want to climb a tall wall. [requires unlocking that skill]
