The world of Mold is fascinating. The game will have many types of mould which the player will need to identify correctly and use when needed:
Every mould has 3 stages of its life cycle:
The player can use a scraper to scrape off mold off a wall. When they scrape it off it applies a masking shader to the mold render layer, and keeps track of the collider. If the total area that was masked is above 95% of the mold the mold despawns with all the masking decals
Scraping will drop scraped-off mold variants of the mold. The player may inspect them or use them in crafting
The scraping tool slowly loses durability when used. Lower durability decreases the chance of a successful scrape, where a fully repaired scraping tool will have a 100% chance of successfully scraping and then the percentage slowly falling down
