Health system
Largely stays the same as original. Trauma represents some sort of issue that the player gains when hurt (Eg cut, foreign object, broken bone, etc.)
One major change is that Pain is now Localized. This means, that pain is felt depending on the bodypart that is in pain. Pain can also be felt in the whole body in certain occasions
However, the way the player interacts with these trauma to heal them is totally different:
Surgery mechanic
When the player interacts with the trauma they enter a Surgery view, where they can use items from their inventory similar to the crafting menu.
Cloth and bandages
- The main way the player deals with trauma is via pieces of cloth. They can use cloth to wrap a wound by dragging and dropping the cloth on the side onto the trauma.
- Depending on the player’s unlocked skills (Medical Tree) They unlock different ways of wrapping the cloth. Instead of just wrapping a pie menu appears which selects either a tight wrap or a loose wrap.
- The player can place a piece of bandaid onto the wound and then wrap the wound with cloth, which increases the efficiency of stopping the blood
- Whole rolls of bandaid can be used as tampons, which absorb much more blood at the cost of using up the whole wrap
- One cloth wrap can only go so far, so the player can also add another cloth to further stop the bloodloss
- A tight wrap can be wrapped above a loose wrap and combined with a short stick-like lever (Pen, spoon, stick) to create a tourniquet, which is used to stop severe bloodloss
- A cloth can be also used to secure a broken arm, if a fracture is present
- When dealing with a foreign object and with enough skill, the player can create a wrap around it to fixate the foreign object and stop the bloodloss. Doing so and holding for a while will stop the blood loss to a point where it would be much safer to remove the foreign object
Scalpel & needles
- The player can use a scalpel to create incisions for extracting foreign objects without risk of massive bloodloss, however this leaves Open Wounds, which do not heal naturally. To do so, the player must sew the wound shut using a needle
- Using the needle creates a tracing accuracy minigame. The more accurately the player traces the needed shape - the faster the wound will heal
Ice pack
- Ice packs are used to relieve pain from an area. This is useful for bruises and broken bones
