The main game is relatively hard on its own due to the depth of the mechanics. However for ppl who think it’s easy or masochists there will be a gamemode which the player can choose one of several challenge runs, each with pre-defined changes and buffs to the game
The player can also choose if permadeath is present no matter the challenge
Ultra Expert mode
The backrooms but everything is ultra-realistic. Turns out there are much more things to watch out in the Backrooms than the Lost:
- Gas leaks - some rooms might have a ruptured pipe which expells gas. Lighting a fire in these rooms causes a large explosion
- Carbon Monoxyde - lighting a fire indoors is a bad idea. If no vent is present nearby a campfire the player slowly gets poisoned by carbon monoxyde released by the campfire
- Hygiene - being dirty and smelly attracts entities and lowers sanity
- No factions - nope there aren’t other people here - you don’t have any maps or forging skills - you gotta learn them yourself
- Scurvy - eating the same food for a long time will give you scurvy
- Plaster isn’t flint- the plaster firestarter doesn’t make any fire and pieces of plaster break 3x faster
- Real temperatures - items take much longer to heat up and properly cook
- Permadeath
- All renewable water is dirty water
- Chance to catch a disease is 30% higher
Permadark
The power went out completely. The lights are off, all outlets don’t give off power, all refrigerators stop working. The only way to get power is via generators
- Permadark - the blackout never stops
- All spawners are active
- Hearing focus - Entities rely more on hearing than sight
- Player starts with a flashlight
